Public hearings for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the first phase of the Nordic Hydrogen Route project have concluded in Finland and Sweden

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) consultations regarding the route plan for the Nordic Hydrogen Route (NHR) project have been completed for the first phase in both Finland and Sweden within the project’s planning areas.

The EIA and landowner meetings, as well as the public hearings held during the spring, attracted widespread interest along the route. At the consultations, local residents, landowners, and other stakeholders received information about the project’s objectives, preliminary route planning, and potential environmental impacts, and they had the opportunity to ask questions and share their views to support the planning work.

The feedback received is a valuable part of the Nordic Hydrogen Route project’s further planning and helps refine the route and develop solutions to minimize impacts on the environment and people.

What’s next?

Next steps in the project:

  • analyze the feedback received during the EIA consultations in Finland and Sweden
  • refine route options and technical plans based on the feedback and studies
  • proceed to the preparation of environmental impact assessment reports in the next EIA phase

The Nordic Hydrogen Route is part of Nordic cooperation aimed at creating infrastructure to support the hydrogen economy of the future and promoting a clean transition for industry in Finland and Sweden.
